Really been trying to teach the kids about stewardship lately and taking care of our things. Kids are so rough on stuff. So the other day I hear the crunch of plastic as the refrigerator door swings shut and slams into the produce door that was left open. Jumping up and (too roughly) grabbing the blonde little fridge raider I’m almost shouting,”WE HAVE TO BE GENTLE WITH THINGS PLACED IN OUR CARE!” Clutching her newly acquired apple in hand, she whimpers an “I’m sorry mom.”
I swear it was like a movie where my voice just echoed in my head.
We have to be gentle with the things placed in our care.
Yes, I had to go apologize to Gillian.
Ew, I hate that. That happens to me more times than I like to admit. Good for you though, for apologizing. May our children grow to love and serve God in spite of our sinfulness and meaningful intentions.
Boy, did that story touch a nerve. Thanks for sharing. I need the reminder every day. It’s too easy to forget that you have to be gentle with a bunch of someone else’s ten-year-olds because they’re placed in your care. I really needed this one today.
Yes.
Me too.
Some days I think I apologize nearly all day.
too funny not to comment – but at least the light bulb went off for you. sometimes i wonder about all the things i am missing that i am doing wrong!
